COLLABORATIONS
Choithram College of Nursing has been actively engaging in numerous collaborations with various institutions and organizations both within India and internationally. These partnerships are designed to enhance the college's academic, clinical, and research capabilities while also fostering significant community health initiatives. Below is a detailed overview of these collaborations, reflecting the college's commitment to excellence in nursing education and community service.
Choithram College of Nursing partnered with Spandan NGO to address mental health awareness under the initiative "Life Moves On." This collaboration was part of the World Suicide Prevention Day observance and involved a range of activities such as debates, panel discussions, and surveys. The primary focus was on reducing the stigma surrounding mental health issues and promoting mental well-being. Additionally, the college joined hands with the Mental Health Alliance Samiti (MEHA) to focus on adolescent mental health. This partnership led to the organization of awareness programs in schools, where topics such as stress management and coping strategies were discussed, and students were taught relaxation techniques to better manage their mental health.
The college also collaborated with the Indore Diocese Social Service Society (IDSSS) on several community health and social welfare initiatives. These included programs for World Disability Day, where students engaged with differently-abled individuals, and Newborn Week, which focused on neonatal care and maternal health. The collaboration extended into 2019 and 2023, with activities such as cancer awareness programs, World AIDS Day observance, and health camps aimed at skill enhancement for nursing students and providing medical services to underserved communities.
The college's partnership with Mar Gregorious Memorial (M.G.M) School was another significant collaboration that focused on school health programs. Through this initiative, health assessments and education sessions were conducted for students, emphasizing hygiene practices, healthy living, and preventive health measures.
The college also moved for the collaboration with the Thalassemia Child Welfare Group, where the college focused on raising awareness about Thalassemia, a genetic blood disorder. Educational sessions were organized for both students and faculty, along with community outreach efforts to educate the public on early diagnosis and management of Thalassemia.
In conjunction with these efforts, Choithram College of Nursing always had a close relationship with the parent hospital Choithram Hospital & Research Centre. This collaboration facilitated numerous health awareness and education programs, including World Heart Day, Naturopathy Day, Breastfeeding Awareness, and World Kidney Day. These events provided students with practical insights into cardiovascular health, the benefits of naturopathy, the importance of breastfeeding, and the early detection of kidney diseases.
Further, the college expanded its collaborative efforts to include Sunderbai Phoolchand Adarsh Shiksha Sansthan (SBPASS), focusing on social welfare, health, awareness, and academics. This partnership included expert lectures on Acupressure therapy for nursing students, collaborative health activities, and a strong emphasis on promoting research in the health field. The collaboration impacted a significant number of students and faculty, with all the students and faculty members involved.
During the same period, the college engaged in research collaboration with the Research Foundation of India (RFI). This two-year partnership involved joint teaching, research, and extension activities, as well as a faculty development program on research methodology. The collaboration aimed to enhance the research capabilities of the faculty, with all the faculty members actively participating. Looking ahead, there are plans to apply for joint collaborative research projects under this partnership.
Furthermore, the college partnered with the Danam Foundation to address self-defense and women’s safety. This collaboration involved workshops and training sessions designed to enhance student motivation, awareness campaigns to tackle gender-based violence, and interactive sessions in schools and colleges focusing on women's safety. Students also received practical training in self-defense techniques, with 148 students and 25 faculty members participating in these initiatives.
These collaborations, spanning various domains such as mental health, adolescent health, community health, and alternative medicine, have significantly enriched the academic and clinical training at Choithram College of Nursing. By partnering with these organizations, the college has provided its students with diverse learning experiences and opportunities for community engagement, contributing to their overall development as healthcare professionals. These partnerships, which have been ongoing for several years, reflect the college's unwavering commitment to continuous improvement and innovation in nursing education.
