INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CELL

Choithram College of Nursing is one of the oldest colleges in Indore and was established in 1982 to provide quality nursing education at an affordable cost. The college has formed an International Student’s Cell in the year 2022. The cell is headed by the principal, teachers, and support staff. The main aim of establishing this cell is to facilitate the aspirant international students with all kinds of services that they may inquire or require. All the details regarding admissions are available on the college website. A person is designated to respond to the quires regarding admissions promptly through telephone and/or mail. The institution strives to promote cross-cultural understanding, provide resources for academic and personal growth, and foster a sense of belonging among international students.

The objectives of the Cell are:

  • Will ensure comprehensive support for international students throughout their academic journey, from enrolment to graduation.
  • Will foster cordial relationships between international students and peers, faculty members and staff.
  • Integrating international students into the various activities and events conducted by the institution.

The functions of the Cell are:

  • Obtain information on annually enrolled students in B.Sc., and M.Sc. Nursing courses and collaborate with relevant departments.
  • Orient newly enrolled students about the cell's purpose, operations, and role, and provide contact details for grievance resolution.
  • Organize biannual meetings with student representatives to address their concerns effectively.
  • Offer counselling sessions on social issues and conduct special tutorials to aid in the comprehension of the local language.
  • Facilitate seamless integration of students into college activities and premises.
  • Resolve grievances of students regarding academics, accommodation, admissions, evaluations, or any other concerns during their tenure.
  • Provide information about local customs, language nuances, and civic amenities.

The Alumni from the College is working in various countries across the globe. The institution is providing guidance and support for the Alumni to glow in the profession with high compassionate care to the needy. The College is initiate a collaboration with Wesleyan University, United States. The institution is trying to attract the student from other countries to study Nursing at this institute and hope that the NAAC accreditation in second cycle may support us to achieve the goal.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENT CELL

The ISC was inaugurated by Dr. Prof Aradhana Michael, Principal Choithram College of Nursing on 16/10/2023.

The inaugural event was attended by Prof. Shreeja Vijayan, Chairperson of IQAC, Dr. Prof Sheetal Saxena Vice Principal, Prof Shweta Pattnaik Chairperson of the committee. Prof Prachi Awasthi, Secretary, along with other committee members, faculty, and students. Subsequently, the International Students Cell (ISC) convened a meeting with its chairperson and members to outline future activities. It was decided that regular meetings would be held every three months, with additional meetings scheduled as required, including an orientation program for newly enrolled students. Detailed minutes of these meetings will be documented, and any issues arising during students' tenure on campus will be promptly addressed in consultation with the chairperson.

The Chairperson is appointed by the Head of the Institution.

Activities:

  • Conduct comprehensive orientation sessions to familiarize new international students with campus facilities, academic resources, cultural norms, and support services available to them.
  • Organize cultural exchange events where international students can share their traditions, cuisines, and cultural practices with their peers and faculty members. This fosters cross- cultural understanding and promotes a sense of community.
  • Offer language support workshops or language exchange programs to help international students improve their proficiency in the local language. This can include conversational practice, language tutoring, and language immersion activities.
  • Provide workshops and seminars on academic skills such as time management, study techniques, research methods, and academic writing tailored to the needs of international students.
  • Host social events, networking sessions, and outings to help international students connect with each other, build friendships, and expand their social networks both on and off campus.
  • Organize health and wellness workshops, yoga classes, meditation sessions, and recreational activities to promote the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of international students.
  • Encourage international students to participate in community service projects, volunteer opportunities, and outreach programs to engage with the local community and contribute positively to society.
  • Offer workshops on resume writing, interview skills, job search strategies, and career development resources to help international students prepare for their future careers in nursing or related fields.
  • Establish peer mentoring programs where senior international students or domestic students can mentor and support new international students, providing guidance, advice, and encouragement as they navigate their academic and personal journeys.
  • Implement feedback mechanisms such as suggestion boxes, surveys, or regular meetings with ISC members to gather input from international students and address their concerns or suggestions effectively.

By promoting cross-cultural exchange, providing support services, and organizing various activities, we strive to enrich the college experience for all students and cultivate global citizens who are equipped to contribute positively to an interconnected world.
